OUR JOURNEY
Ty and Becca Trapps created Roots to Peaks with a simple but powerful vision: to bring families and young people together through the outdoors. They believe that time in nature can create lasting memories, strengthen family connections, build confidence, and inspire curiosity.
Ty, who grew up just outside Washington, D.C., developed a deep appreciation for the freedom and connection that come from exploring the outdoors. Becca, raised in Boulder, Colorado, saw firsthand the value of outdoor experiences in helping young people learn, grow, and connect with the world around them.
Together, they combined their backgrounds, skills, and passion for youth to create a nonprofit where every family has the opportunity to experience the outdoors—regardless of income. Through free nature scavenger hunts, outdoor education, family adventure days, and hands-on exploration, Roots to Peaks helps families unplug, work together, discover the wonder of God's creation, and make memories that last.
